Creative way to boost workforce
As you may or may not have seen recently, we have had a article written and printed about us in the Echo! Yippeeee!
The title was called ‘Creative way to boost workforce’ and it highlighted how we are tapping into local talent through a graduate scheme run by the North East digital trade association Codeworks Connect.
Basically, Rufus has taken on two graduates through the scheme, which sees Sunderland-based Codeworks pay half of the salary of a creative graduate for a year.

“It was a little confusing to start with, as they are both called Graeme! But we can clearly tell them apart by eye, as one is a 8ft ginger and the other resembles Moses” said an initially confused Ian Wright.
Graeme (Ginger / G2) Metcalf, 22, a Sunderland University graduate who studied Graphic Design, became a junior designer at the firm in February.
I gave myself a year to find a job in the area, and if it didn’t come off I planned to move to London. I like it here because it’s a really creative atmosphere, the people are really easy to get on with and it’s a really creative job. I find myself skipping to work on a morning.

Northumbria University graduate Graeme (the Mad One / G1) Madden, 25, has also gained a graduate placement at the company through Codeworks. He is part of the web team and his job involves coding, programming and setting up e-commerce facilities. Due to the man of many words, not willing to say much, we do not have a quote from the wizard.
The Codeworks scheme helps companies take somebody on without having to take the expense on of a fully-paid member of staff. It gives them a bit of breathing space for a year to test them out and develop that role into a fully sustainable job.

Anyway… our creative manager Gareth Davies was always more than willing to pipe up and said “The company is pleased to have created links with local universities.”
So welcome to both the Graeme’s and we are looking forward to having many more Graeme’s in the future!
